Crochet baskets

Extremely versatile and super easy to make.

These can be made using various materials, in any imaginable colour, and their pattern could not possibly be any simpler. It’s a single crochet worked in the round, starting with 7 scs and then adding one extra sc every 7scs (so the rounds are: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 etc.) until you get to the size you need – and then switch to sc all around.

Materials

1mm waxed cotton string (no-name, Aliexpress, 100m spools)
or
5mm cotton cord (Sznur by Mila, 10m skeins)

I entered the bathroom in the morning and realised that this is it. I can’t stand this mess any more.

Luckily a few spools of cheap Chinese waxed string were lying around. An hour later and with Penneys candle added to the mix the bathroom looked decent again.

I worked with three threads simultaneously, using 1mm waxed cotton string ordered from Aliexpress (you have to wait an eternity for the delivery but these are extremely cheap, around 1e per 100m spool). As it’s going to be used in bathroom’s humid environment, waxed string sounded like a better option than the normal soft cotton cord.

This is not really a basket, more like an open sleeve for the flower pot. The drainage at the bottom meant that the soft cotton cord could not go underneath, so the pattern started with simple chain rather than magic ring, leaving the bottom part fully open.

I then added or reduced the scs as necessary to follow the shape of slightly irregular plastic flower pot.
